Pacific Coast Highway: Hoquiam, WA ...

The city of Hoquiam is located in Grays Harbor County, WA state ... the city has a population of aprox. 8,700 people.

Hoquiam is located just slightly west of the city of Aberdeen ... both cities are located in the sheltered marine environment of Gray's Harbor.

Hoquiam was incorporated in 1890 ... it's name comes from a Native-American word meaning "hungry for wood" - named from the large amount of driftwood found at the mouth of the Hoquiam River.

Hoquiam has a long history tied to the Forestry/Lumber industry ... every September the city hosts the annual "Logger's Playday" that features a parade and logging competitions such as axe-throwing and tree-climbing.

While in the area visit the Polson Museum to learn about the area's history.
